As on the Đetinja, we can fish for one day or spend two days there with an overnight stay in comfortable rooms by the river. Brown trout from 15 to 40 cm are common here, while grayling from 30 to 50 cm are less frequent.

The Đetinja River is an excellent place to fly fish for grayling. Clean mountain water, natural current channels, and abundant insect life make it ideal for pursuing this lively fish. I’ll guide you to the best spots, where you can experience the true excitement of fly fishing.

Fishing on the Đetinja mainly targets grayling, most often with micro-nymphing techniques; on sunny days, dry flies and ant patterns also work well. The river canyon requires moderate fitness, and there are places where we’ll need to scramble over the hillsides.

The Lim River in Montenegro is an outstanding fly-fishing destination. It holds grayling, trout, and Balkan nase, while its clear water and dramatic scenery make every day on the river special. I’ll take you to the most promising spots, where every cast can produce a memorable fish.

Transfer
I’ve been driving for more than 20 years. My 2017 VW Golf estate comfortably carries up to five people and plenty of gear. I’ll pick you up in Belgrade free of charge; pickup in another city can be arranged for an additional fee. I’m a careful driver, and safety always comes first. Every passenger must wear a seat belt, and two child seats are available on request. Some rivers are reached by gentle mountain roads, but I’ll make the journey as comfortable as possible.

What Is Fly Fishing, Anyway?
Fly fishing in Serbia combines exciting fishing with hiking along scenic rivers such as the Gradac, Đetinja, and Lim — and hundreds of other waterways. We fish in remote places reached on foot, following natural river corridors in search of grayling and trout. Lightweight gear is essential for these adventures: waders with comfortable boots, a minimal tackle setup (a #3–#5 rod and a box of dry flies and nymphs), plus a backpack with water and snacks. This approach lets you immerse yourself in nature, adapt to changing river conditions, and enjoy an unforgettable fly-fishing experience.
On the Lim, Đetinja, and Gradac rivers, I use #3–#5 fly rods, which allow delicate presentations while still providing enough power to land grayling and trout. During the warmer months, dry flies such as Elk Hair Caddis, Adams, and Red Tag work best. In autumn and winter, small nymphs such as Pheasant Tail, Hare’s Ear, and Perdigon are especially effective. I select the right presentation for the depth and speed of the current so the fly drifts naturally and triggers a take.
